· SmartPlay Studio infotainment replaces 2-DIN audio player in the Zeta variant.
· Ignis Zeta AMT now costs Rs 6.45 lakh
· Ignis continues to be sold via Nexa dealership chain.
Maruti Suzuki has upgraded the features list of the Ignis for the Indian market. This is the first update to the brand's premium hatchback after it received a facelift and BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol engine earlier this year.
2020 Maruti Ignis Zeta: What's new?
The Ignis Zeta variant is the one that sits below the fully-loaded Alpha trim. The company has now added a factory fitted touchscreen infotainment system as standard to the Ignis Zeta, replacing the 2-DIN audio system. The SmartPlay Studio system, as Maruti Suzuki calls it, comes loaded with multiple features and also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The screen also displays the rear parking sensor guidelines and even doubles as a reverse camera display, if the vehicle is equipped with one. The addition of the infotainment system joins a long list of features that are already available on the Ignis Zeta variant, which includes alloy wheels, steering mounted audio controls, rear wiper and washer, to name a few. The model, however, misses out on features like LED headlamps with daytime running lamps and automatic climate control, which are available on the top-spec Ignis Alpha variant.
2020 Maruti Ignis Zeta: Pricing and competition
Maruti Suzuki has priced the updated Ignis Zeta at Rs 5.98 lakh for the 5-speed manual gearbox equipped variant, while the AMT version costs Rs 6.45 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated models cost Rs 9,000 more than their respective predecessors. The Ignis is sold via Maruti Suzuki's Nexa premium retail dealership chain and rivals the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in the Indian market.
